Capillary Tubing Glass tubing is hollow, rather than having a solid form, as in glass rod. Simax capillary tubing can be described as tubing with a very narrow hollow channel through which liquid/fluid or air/gas can pass. Capillary glass tubing has many uses in scientific, medical, and industrial settings. Because capillary tubes made from borosilicate are inert, transparent, and less subject to thermal stress than many glasses, the variety of equipment and uses for this material is vast. The three numbers in each products description refer in millimeters to 1) the outer diameter, 2) the diameter of the hollow channel, and 3) the length of the tube.
